A CHARITY supporting domestic abuse victims has raised £13,000 and broken their fundraising record.

Crowds donned masks and flocked to Gisborough Hall in May for the fifth annual charity ball hosted by the Middlesbrough-based My Sister's Place.

The masquerade-themed event saw people enjoy live music, a casino, make-up artist and fundraising games.

Vicky Fisher, fundraising manager explained: “We have seen an increase in support from the general public and local business and we put this down to being more visible in the community.

“Through the help of volunteers we have been able to host more local events, this in turn has helped us raise awareness of domestic abuse and the work My Sisters Place does with local women and families.

"Not only did we raise a fantastic amount but everyone had a great time too.”

The domestic abuse charity based in Middlesbrough aims to deliver accessible services to abuse victims and address domestic violence in innovative ways for women over the age of 16.

The ball was masquerade themed and included a live band, a casino, a magic selfie mirror, a make-up artist and fundraising games. The event hosted 170 guests including the sponsors Northern Bespoke Development and HMH Civils.
