Car raid
A VEHICLE parked on Black Horse Lane in Swainby, near Stokesley, was broken into between 11pm on June 4 and 5am the following day and items stolen. Anyone who has CCTV in the area, or any other information is asked to ring 101.
Swift story
WILDLIFE artist Jonathan Pomroy will host a mid-summer swift evening in the village hall Gilling East, near Helmsley, at 7.30pm on June 19 as part of UK Swift Awareness Week. Admission is £5 and includes refreshments. There will be a short presentation followed by a walk around the village to look at swifts, swallows and martins.
Bees topic
POLLINATION and bees will be the topic of a special session at Rural Arts in Thirsk on June 16. The workshop will be a chance to learn all about bees, try on a bee suit and honey tasting.
War talk
THE WESTERN Front Association is hosting an illustrated talk by James Sadler on the story of his father during the First World War on June 13 at 7.30pm at Richmondshire Cricket Club. The branch is a new venture - meetings are free although a donation of £3 would help to cover costs. Contact christopherrobinson114@btinternet.com.
Knitting group
