PLANS have been revealed to relocate public services in a bid to deliver long-term savings.

Ryedale District Council aims to develop a public service hub by relocating a range of services – currently delivered from different locations – into one new development in Malton town centre.

This is likely to include the relocation of the district council from Old Malton Road to a redeveloped community house in Malton.

It would free up land to be used for housing, which is included in the council’s long-term planning ambitions.

In the long-run other public services could also relocate to the central location, making it easier for customers to get what they need, and district council meetings would be held at the Assembly Rooms in Malton.

Funding of £220,000 has been allocated from central government for the hub.
