A SERIES of afternoon activities will take place at two nature reserves this summer.

Durham Wildlife Trust is organising activity afternoons at Rainton Meadows, near Houghton-le-Spring, and Low Barns, near Witton-le-Wear.

On Wednesdays at Low Barns Nature Reserve, and on Thursday at Rainton Meadows, activities include pond dipping, rock art, mini-beast hunting and wildlife searches.

Costs are £3 per child at Rainton Meadows and £2 at Low Barns.

Events begin at 1.30pm at both sites.

To book, phone 01388-488728 for Low Barns and 0191-584 3112 for Rainton Meadows.

The trust is looking for a volunteer who wants to begin a fundraising career.

Marketing manager Adam Eagle wants someone who can travel to the trust's offices, in Rainton Meadows for two days a week.

They will be asked to help in the fundraising office.

For details, phone Mr Eagle on 0191-584-3112.
