A NORTH-EAST theatre is holding a celebratory evening to mark its 100th anniversary.

On Sunday, September 2 - the actual date of Darlington Civic Theatre's centenary - the theatre is staging 100 Years of Music and Variety in Darlington.

The evening will take audiences through a historical journey of music and theatrical entertainment.

The British Philharmonic Concert Orchestra will perform some of the greatest and most widely recognised pieces of music, including 633 Squadron, Gone With the Wind 1939 and the ET Flying Theme 1984.

Special guests include ventriloquist Ray Alan with Lord Charles, comedian Stu Francis, Billy Bedlam and the amazing Crisco.

Audience members are asked to join in the spirit of the evening by coming along in Edwardian outfits - there will be a prize for the best costume.
