NEWCASTLE International Film Festival have announced its line-up which will showcase over 200 films across the four-day Easter weekend.

The festival will kick off on March 29 with a screening of the Tyneside film, Get Carter followed by a Q&A with director, Mike Hodges.

Other stars involved in the event include, award-winning movie star Richard Armitage, best known for his work in The Hobbit, and ex-Coronation Street actress Denise Welch who will introduce short film Black Eyed Susan, with North-East MP Chi Onwurah.

Actress and festival board member Caroline Goodall said: "The Newcastle International Film Festival is an incredible platform to showcase the North East and the wealth of talent it has raised to the world.

“We’re very proud to introduce the global film industry to the North East and in turn, introduce the people of Newcastle Upon Tyne and beyond to some incredible international films and the voices of global independent filmmaking.”

Festival venues include Tyneside Cinema and Cineworld at the Gate.
