A FOLK duo are set to kick of an art centre's spring season.

Emily Smith and Jamie McClennan are set to play on Saturday, February 10.

Named as one of the most exciting folk duos on the scene today, the pair bring a sound influenced by the Scottish tradition, Americana and beyond with vocal harmonies and sensitive double guitars, fiddle and accordion.

The duo met in 2002 and have performed throughout Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Russia and North America.

Their anniversary tour promises a big new sound with newly written songs paired with some of their favourites.

Katy Taylor, The Witham's director said: ‘We are delighted to be welcoming Jamie back here and were very pleased at how keen he and Emily are to come to The Witham. We work hard to ensure all our visitors including the artists who come have an excellent experience while they are here in County Durham and are proud of our reputation in the folk music industry as a go to venue."

Tickets are £14 in advance or £16 on the door and available at thewitham.org.uk or by calling 01833-631107.
