RAILWAY enthusiasts can discover more about the Bahamas Locomotive Society next month.

Locomotion in Shildon is hosting a free talk called The Bahamas Story on Thursday, March 11, at 1.45pm as part of the Rail Camaramen exhibition events programme.

The talk, by Peter Skellon of the Bahamas Locomotive Society, will provide a brief history of the LMS Jubilee 4-6-0s and No. 45596 in particular. It will cover its purchase by the society in 1967, the creation of the Dinting Railway Centre as its home, and the move to the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway in 1990. It will also include background to the fitment of its double chimney in 1961, along with details of the current overhaul, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, which is due for completion and return to the main lines towards the end of spring.

Tickets are free but muse be booked in advance. Contact 01904-685780.

Rail Cameramen runs at Locomotion until March 4.
