AN exercise project supporting people with mental health issues is now offering walking and cycling sessions.
The Up and Running programme – in its second year – provides guidance on the positive mental health benefits of exercise, as well as health and nutritional advice.
The sessions were added to coincide with last week’s national Time to Talk Day, which saw participants visit a new toning suite at Northallerton Leisure Centre before a walking session.
The project is being delivered through Hambleton District Council, Tees, Esk and Wear Valley NHS Trust and North Yorkshire County Council Public Health and Secondary Care Unit.
Councillor Bridget Fortune said: “Emphasis is placed on the social, fun element of health and physical activity and participants are encouraged to join the groups.”
