A RAPPER will be holding a workshop and performing a gig as a way of promoting community cohesion and promoting German culture.
Chefket will be at Middlesbrough’s myplace youth centre on Thursday, February 1 as part of a UK tour to introduce young people to German music as part of a Goethe-Institut project.
The rapper’s songs engage young people with issues such as everyday school life, first love and their future.
The workshops, held in German, will give insight in the life of a rapper and the art of rapping, as well as the roles of the entire band including what it is like to be a technician, singer or DJ.
Tracey Smith myplace manager said: “The young people of myplace have been working hard developing their musical understanding, technical skills and creative expression. This has improved their self-esteem, engagement, confidence and resilience.
“Having the opportunity to see Chefket perform will give them further inspiration to perform in front of an audience and also introduce them to the German culture and language."
