A MAN was left with serious facial injuries after he was glassed when he left a town centre pub.

The 21-year-old had left Lacey’s Bar, in Bishop Auckland, and was walking down Fore Bondgate towards the Market Place with a group of friends when a man ran up behind him.

When the victim turned round, the man glassed him in the face causing cuts, heavy bleeding and in need of hospital treatment.

The suspect ran off in an unknown direction.

He is described as being a white man, in his early to mid-20s, of slim build with short dark hair and he was also wearing a grey top at the time.

The incident happened at around 1am on Wednesday, December 27.

PC Lee Nicholson, from South Durham CID, said: “This was a violent and unprovoked incident which left a man with serious injuries.

“We are appealing for anyone with any information about this incident to call Durham Constabulary."
