AN inspirational teacher has been awarded an MBE for services to education and charity.
Timothy Michael Staden Pocock, of Ripon, has worked as an English teacher for 32 years at St Aidan’s Church of England High School in Harrogate.
The 58-year-old provided support to a student who was diagnosed with leukaemia while preparing for his GCSEs.
Through fundraising activities such as setting up a staff football team in 1987, he has helped colleagues through difficult times.
Mr Pocock was appointed charities co-ordinator around 20 years ago, and has raised almost £1m for more than 110 charities.
