TWO women were taken to hospital following a crash near to where a pedestrian was hit and killed just two days before.
The elderly women were helped out of a car and taken to University Hospital of North Durham following the crash on the A688 at Metal Bridge yesterday, near Ferryhill.
Paramedics attended and aided the injured women who had been travelling in the Peugeot 206, which collided with a black BMW 5 Series at 2.30pm.
It is not believed they were seriously injured.
The road was closed between Thinford and Tursdale roundabouts for more than two hours, opening at 4.39pm.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident and anyone with information should call Durham Police on 101 quoting incident number 231 of December 5.
The incident comes less than 48 hours after a pedestrian was killed on adjoining Pine Road.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene at 6.40pm on Sunday.
