A PEDESTRIAN killed in a crash near Ferryhill has been identified and his family has been informed.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision in Pine Road, East Howle, at about 6.40pm on Sunday.
Durham Police appealed for help to identify the man following the collision, urging anyone with concerns about a family member to get in touch.
Shortly after noon today, the force announced on Facebook that the man had been identified.
Pine Road was closed between the junction with A688 Metal bridge and Wood Lane Ferryhill for several hours while emergency services attended the incident.
Anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the man walking along Pine Road prior to the accident is asked to call the collision unit on 0191-3752259 or 101 quoting incident 372 of December 3.
