A FITTING tribute to war heroes will see a council headquarters transformed into a sea of poppies for Remembrance Day.
Richmondshire District Council officers are busy creating poppies in all manner of guises to attach to netting which will be draped around the Mercury House building in the town.
The poppies will adorn the building both internally and externally.
Council worker Jackie Allen said: “We wanted to create our own tribute for remembrance day and having seen how popular similar displays have been around the country decided we could do something too.
“We have people knitting, crocheting and sewing poppies – as well as creating them from paper. They are being attached to netting, will be hung on railings and draped around the staircases. We hope our poppy walk will be spectacular.”
