A TEAM of acrobats has made it into the Guinness Book of World Records after making a human skipping rope.
Members from Deerness Gymnastics Academy, near Durham, made the bid to set the record for the most skips over a human skipping rope in May.
They have now appeared in the newly published 2018 Guinness Book of World Records for their successful attempt, which was also filmed for children’s TV show Officially Amazing.
Jesse Heskett, Georgia Hewison, Liam Sneath and Angus Martin, who are all part of Deerness’ Acropolis team of acrobats, set the record after managing 48 skips in a minute.
Georgia, 12, who was the “rope”, said: “I’m so thrilled to be a Guinness World Record holder and now to be in the book as well. The skipping rope is an acrobatic move that we have performed many times in our Acropolis shows.
“I’m used to being the rope but I’ve never been jumped over that many times before.”
It involves two people holding the arms and feet of another person, who is the rope while a fourth person jumps the rope.
