ORGANISERS of a country show that has been running for 121-years say they are ‘beyond gutted’ after being forced to cancel this year’s event.
The 122nd Burniston Agricultural and Horticultural Show near Scarborough was due to take place on bank holiday Monday but has been cancelled because last week’s thunderstorms have left the showfield underwater.
Secretary Kate Harland said: “The showfield and both parking fields are completely water-logged and many parts of the fields are under standing water.
“We were really looking forward to this year’s show - gutted doesn’t come close.”
The star attraction was to have been Carol and Philip Mellin’s sheepdog display from the TV series The Dales.
