A MAN charged with attempted murder following a house fire has appeared at court.
Daniel John McCardle, of Coxon Street, Sunderland appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court this morning for the offence which left one man in hospital with 30 per cent burns.
The victim, a man in his 70s, was inside his home on Magdalene Terrace, in Ferryhill, when a fire broke out on Saturday, July 29.
The 27-year-old, who was represented in court by David Malone, entered no plea to one charge of attempted murder.
Mr Malone made no application for bail and McCardle was remanded in custody pending a hearing at Durham Crown Court which is set to take place on Tuesday, September 19.
