A HIGH flying artist who has exhibited all over the world is celebrating the latest display of his work which was held on his own doorstep in the Yorkshire Dales.
John Hunter, from Grinton in Swaledale, a renowned aviation artist held an exhibition in Leyburn's arts centre to coincide with the town's famous wartime weekend.
Mr Hunter, who also paints rural scenes, has travelled far and wide exhibiting his work including International Air Tattoos, the Mall galleries in London, and Air Museums at Coventry, Elvington and Edinburgh as well as the Imperial War Museum. He's also undertaken commissions including a 90th Anniversary painting for RAF Wittering, and private commissions reflecting the Falklands and Afghanistan conflicts.
"It was wonderful to work with the team at Leyburn and I have arranged a similar exhibition next year with originals in the gallery and prints downstairs. Hopefully I'll have more of a variety too, and I may even be allowed to play some period jazz on the piano over the weekend,"he added.
