AN agricultural show which has remained true to its traditional roots for more than a century returns this month.
The 148th Weardale Agricultural Show takes place on Saturday, August 26, in St John’s Chapel, near Stanhope, and is a celebration of traditional rural life.
Along with livestock contests–including cattle, sheep, horses and ponies- visitors can enjoy falconry displays, horticulture and handicrafts, floral art, bale stacking competitions and cookery demonstrations.
There will also be running events, a dog competition, quoits and a farmers market.
Music lovers, meanwhile, can enjoy performances by Stanhope Silver Band and the Kerry-Ann School of Dance.
Weardale Agriculture Society have also organised lots of activities to keep youngsters entertained, with a special children’s tent packed full of fun surprises. Children can also enter their favourite teddies in a cuddly top competition.
Gates open to exhibitors at 8am and the public at 9am. Entry is £6 for adults, £3 for children and free for members of Weardale Agricultural Society. To find out more, visit weardale-show.co.uk
