THE climax to a four-day carnival will see a variety of events taking place in a Teesdale village today.
Staindrop has held a talent contest, a treasure hunt and several sports competitions and, this afternoon, villagers will be out in their numbers for the carnival procession, which starts at 1.30pm, in Winston Road.
After the procession, there will be a fair, a raffle, a steel band and a pipe band, on the green, and cream teas served in Scarth Hall.
"The weather forecast says it will be dry, so as long as there's no rain I'll be happy," said organiser Vicky Lowe.
"There'll be all the local groups in the procession and it should be a great day."
The main road through Staindrop will be closed to traffic between 1.30pm and 2pm.
