TWO men escaped unhurt when a car they were in crashed on a sharp bend.
The accident happened on the B6282, between Middleton-in-Teesdale and Eggleston, on Wednesday evening.
The vehicle ended up partly off the road and the road was closed for more than half an hour until it was towed away.
The men were from the Teesdale area.
A police spokesman said no action would be taken against the driver, although he would probably be given some advice about his driving.
Traffic was diverted via Mickleton.
