A LEISURE centre is looking for people to train as pool lifeguards.
Washington Leisure Centre is holding a crash course leading to the national pool lifeguard qualification.
The course will be divided into two three-day blocks, with part one starting on Monday, July 30. The second segment of the training will begin on Monday, August 6.
Participants must be over 16, confident in deep water, able to swim 50 metres in under 60 seconds, swim 100 metres on front and back, without pausing, and dive from the surface to a depth of 3 metres
The training on the course is described as rigorous, so those interested in taking part must have a good standard of physical fitness.
The cost of the course is £240 and places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
Washington Leisure Centre can offer a pool test, free, for anyone unsure of their swimming ability.
Anyone interested can contact the centre's reception on 0191-219-3400 for further details.
