THE town of Northallerton is proving to be the perfect forum for shooting practice - but all under the watchful eye of experts.

The second in a series of taster sessions to promote shooting as a safe, competitive sport takes place next week at the Hambleton Forum.

The district council has teamed up with the Modern Pentathlon Association to organise the classes. The association is bringing in members from the Hambleton area to take the sessions.

The course is a forerunner for new monthly classes due to start in September which will give people the chance to learn both shooting and fencing - two disciplines of the modern pentathlon.

The taster sessions are held on Thursday, July 19, from 6pm to 8.30pm. Each hour-long class - which start at half-hourly intervals - costs £5.

There is no limit to the number of sessions that people can attend - and there will be opportunities to become involved with competitions which are held throughout the region on a regular basis.
