A TOWN turned out in style to celebrate its French connections when a group of visitors arrived in Richmond from the twin town of St Aubin du Cormier in Brittany.
The 19 strong party were welcomed with tea and cake on Friday evening and spent the weekend visiting Sunderland and Wensleydale, including the Creamery at Hawes before a Civic Reception in the Town Hall. A minutes silence was held for the victims of the atrocities in France and England before speeches and the exchange of gifts. Entertainment was provided by group Fourum as well as a joint St Aubin / Richmond Music Ensemble.
A spokesperson for the town twinning committee said: “The weekend was a huge success we would like to thank everyone who worked so diligently. We now look forward to Richmond’s visit to St Aubin in 2019.”
