DEERNESS Valley Gymnastics Club is celebrating after securing medal success in the first tumbling competition it has entered.
A team of 35 youngsters, aged seven to 19, travelled to Dublin for the Irish leg of the national championships.
Despite the team only being in existence for about a year, it secured one gold, four silver and one bronze medal.
Coach Glen Wharton said: "Some of the kids are only seven and have done very well.
"They made virtually no mistakes. Out of 138 tumbles there were only seven mistakes. It is amazing how they coped with the pressure."
