RUMOURS are circulating about the characters likely to appear at a village scarecrow festival.
Witches, football players and thespians are expected to pop up around Catterick Village at the weekend.
Last year, there were more than 40 entries and organisers are hoping for just as many this year.
The festival runs from next Friday to Sunday.
Entry is free. Forms can be collected from the post office, newsagents and Booth Hall.
They should be returned by tomorrow.
Trail guides with quiz sheet cost £1 and will be available from Booth Hall and the newsagents from Friday onwards.
Scarecrow concerts will be performed by the junior theatre group at Booth Hall on Friday and Saturday evenings.
