AN EXHIBITION featuring the work of up and coming artists is currently on display.

Rural Arts, Thirsk, is staging an exhibition of work by 14 recent graduates from across the UK in a range of mediums it includes the work of Evagelia Hagikalfa, who uses discarded camera lenses and recycled slides to create miniature 3D worlds as well as glass and textile exhibits by other artists.

The display is supported by Hambleton Decorative and Fine Arts Society, part of the national organisation, NADFAS. Visitors are asked to pick their favourite work and the top artist will win a solo exhibition at the venue in autumn.

Angela Holt, from Rural Arts, said: “The exhibition provides a springboard for artists to exhibit their work. It also supports the Rural Arts annual exhibition programme as well, by presenting work which breaks down the barriers between arts disciplines. It’s quite an eclectic mix.”

“As well as giving emerging artists a chance to exhibit their work for the first time, we can also offer support and advice in terms of how to exhibit their work and pricing.”

The exhibition runs in The Courthouse Gallery on Westgate in Thirsk until Saturday, May 13 and entry is free.
