POLICE have charged a man with a number of offences following a series of incidents in which two people were struck by a car.
A tense five-hour rooftop stand-off with armed police followed, during which tiles were hurled into the street below.
The drama began in Peterlee, County Durham, at 3.50pm on Tuesday.
A spokeswoman for Peterlee Police said: "Following an incident in Peterlee last night, a 26-year-old man has now been charged with numerous offences."
Luther Ankonum, also known as Luther Smith, of Fairclough Court, Peterlee, will appear before magistrates on Thursday morning charged with four counts of attempted GBH, two counts of criminal damage and other public order and driving offences.
