A MAN has appeared in court in connection with the death of a 91-year-old woman, who was hit by a car.
Catherine Duncan, 91, of Nelson Avenue, in Gosforth, Newcastle, died at the Royal Victoria Infirmary on Friday following the collision, which happened at about 8.38pm on Thursday, April 6.
A 36-year-old man appeared at Newcastle Crown Court on Saturday charged with causing death by careless driving whilst over the prescribed alcohol limit, taking a vehicle without the owner's consent, having no insurance and being a disqualified driver.
Northumbria Police said he had been remanded in custody and are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to call them on 101, quoting 1033 of 060417.
