AN EVENING to celebrate 50 years of business for a Richmondshire-based estate agency was held at the Kings Head Hotel, Richmond.

The event for Norman F Brown was attended by 120 guests, including clients, business associates, family and friends, who enjoyed wine and canapes.

Norman Brown, the founder of the firm, gave a brief history of the business, thanking those who had helped in any way over the years.

Richmond property developer Randall Orchard proposed a toast to the firm and conveyed his best wishes for the next 50 years of the business, which is now owned by Mr Brown’s son James.

Norman F Brown Chartered Surveyors, Valuers and Estate Agents has offices in Richmond, Leyburn and Bedale.

Mr Brown, from Swaledale, first opened the Richmond branch in 1967, and the firm expanded with the purchase of a Leyburn office in 1976.

The Bedale office was built in 1985 on the old auction mart side is managed by Philip Mills.

The firm employs ten staff, including Janet Atkinson who manages the Leyburn office and who has been with the firm for 31 years.
