WORK to improve a busy Middlesbrough junction has been delayed by a fortnight.
The carriageway of A171 Cargo Fleet Lane is being widened at its junction with Cranmore Road, creating a separate lane for vehicles turning right into Cranmore Road.
Work had been due to get underway today (February 13) but will now start on Monday, February 27.
Middlesbrough Council say the changes will permit vehicles travelling south on Cargo Fleet Lane towards Ormesby to do so unimpeded and will allow the junction to work more efficiently, reducing the congestion and delays that currently occur.
Cllr Charlie Rooney, Middlesbrough’s Deputy Mayor and executive member for regeneration, said: “Once complete, these works will have a significant positive impact on those who live in east Middlesbrough and those who use Cargo Fleet Lane on a regular basis.”
