TWO men are to be prosecuted in connection with the death of a man at a North-East nightclub.

Police in Durham confirmed the pair will appear in court charged with affray following the death of 54-year-old Stewart Anderson, a freelance tiler from Hetton-le-Hole.

The father-of-two, who also had a young granddaughter, died following an incident at Loveshack nightclub in Durham last summer.

A 47-year-old man from has already been charged with affray and a 24-year-old has been reported for summons and will also appear at court in due course where he too will be charged with affray.

Both men are from Hetton-le-Hole.

Seven members of door staff arrested in connection with the inquiry are facing no further action.

Police were called to the club in the Walkergate area of the city shortly after 1am on Sunday July 24 after reports of a disturbance inside the premises involving a number of people.

Mr Anderson became unwell and was given first aid by police and paramedics.

He was taken by ambulance to the University Hospital of North Durham, but died a few hours later.
