TWO men have been charged with murdering a man who died nine months after a street assault.
Michael Stead was originally assaulted in Brady Street in Sunderland in March 2016. He was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle with head injuries and was later transferred to Sunderland Royal Hospital.
Northumbria Police was informed that the 34-year-old had died last week.
Earlier on Friday, 25-year-old Daniel Mould, of Chester Terrace North in Sunderland, appeared at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court charged with his murder.
He was remanded in custody and will appear before Newcastle Crown Court on January 10.
A second man, 25-year-old Michael Young, formerly of Rutherglen Road in Sunderland has also been charged with murder.
A date has yet to be set for his first court appearance.
