STAR Wars inspired artworks will be auctioned off in Darlington to raise funds for a mental health charity.

Members of MIND’s art therapy group have created 30 unique artworks inspired by the popular film series.

The charity has now teamed up with Darlington’s Odeon cinema to sell the art in a silent auction to raise money for MIND.

The creations will be on view to the public, and available for bidding, throughout the Christmas period until the final auction on New Year’s Day at the cinema.

The exhibition coincides with the release of the latest film in the Star Wars series, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story which debuted in UK cinemas last week.

It is hoped that the auction will raise awareness of the work done by the charity, which provides support and services for those experiencing emotional or mental health problems and their carers locally and across the region.

Roberto Picciau, Arts and Crafts Support Worker at Darlington Mind said: “We hope that this exhibition at ODEON Darlington will be enjoyed by everyone who sees it, as well as helping to raise awareness of mental health issues and of the support that Darlington Mind and its services can give.”

Speaking about the exhibition, Laura Stannard, General Manager at ODEON Darlington, said: “We are thrilled to work with team at Darlington Mind on this fantastic cause, and use their specially-created artworks for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, to benefit a great organisation”

She added: “Supporting our local community is hugely important to the team here at ODEON Darlington, and we can’t wait to see the reaction from all our guests who’ll be able to enjoy the artworks when they join us to watch the new hit film in the coming weeks.”
