DARLINGTON’S reality TV star Francis Jones finally said ‘I do’ to his BBC co-star Rachel Bruce on Tuesday.

A festive St Cuthbert’s Church welcomed the Rent a Cop stars for the heart-warming conclusion to a long-running ‘will they, won’t they’ love story.

Just weeks after Sparta Security boss Mr Jones unexpectedly proposed to his feisty office manager, the pair wed at the historic venue in front of friends, family and their dogs.

Much-loved pets Beautiful and Lily dressed up for the occasion and walked their mistress down the aisle accompanied by Longfield Academy pupils Lewis Allan, 12 and 13-year-old Jordan Smith, who walk Mr Jones’ dogs regularly.

A traditional ceremony saw Mrs Bruce-Jones, resplendent in a white American gown with silver highlights, given away by her father, Bob and supported by bridesmaid Valerie Baines.

Mr Jones wore a dark green checked suit and was in good spirits as he encouraged all gathered to join in with a rendition of All Things Bright and Beautiful.

The congregation also included Luke ‘Pembo’ Pemberton, who appeared alongside the couple in the BBC Three series Rent A Cop.

At the end of the ceremony, Mr Jones gave a moving speech in which he paid tribute to his bride’s beauty – and his own.

The pair were engaged in November, after a ten year friendship blossomed into something more serious after Mr Jones realised he could lose the love of his life to another man.

In his speech, he said: “You do not know what someone means to you until they are out of your life.

“I’m a boxer but nothing hit me harder than when I thought I was losing Rachel, maybe because I hadn’t shown her enough love.

“It’s all about love, riding the sea of love and not just being good when the sun’s shining.

“Love needs to be there even when you’re tired, like when you’re a world championship boxer and have to go out and train – you have to show love and understand that it’s a commitment.

“It’s about saying I love you and I don’t want nobody else…I’m not letting go.

“She looks absolutely beautiful and I do as well, you know I do – this man is some specimen, with this £814 suit on.”

The couple arrived at St Cuthbert’s in marked Sparta Security cars, with the bridal car sporting a ‘Francis and Rachel’ decal across its windscreen.

They will honeymoon in Windermere and Gran Canaria.
