A COUNTY Durham castle is getting ready for Christmas by opening its gates for festive activities.
Raby Castle, near Staindrop, in Teesdale, will be selling Christmas trees and host Father Christmas in his grotto as part of the Taste of Teesdale festival, on Sunday, December 11.
More than 30 stalls selling local food and craft will also be on offer throughout the event which has been organised by the Barnard Castle Farmers market.
The public is being invited to do any last-minute Christmas shopping during the event as everything from biscuits to hand-made gifts will be available.
The local band Gegenforde and a hog roast will also be keeping people warm.
The market manager Katrina Palmer will be hosting a raffle on the day to win a large bag full of goodies from the market and also selling the market reusable bags.
The event will be held at the castle, which is currently closed for winter, from 10am until 4pm.
