MORPETH Harrier Terry Wall had no trouble notching up his fifth victory in the Newton Aycliffe 10K yesterday.

The 36-year-old Durham City baker, winner of the Raby Castle 10K three weeks previously, repeated his 2006 victory in 32 mins 23 secs, beating Scarborough's Rickie Wilson by 58 seconds.

Wall galloped off into an early lead and had a 38 seconds advantage at the halfway mark. He said: "I didn't feel as comfortable as I did at Raby Castle - maybe I had my breakfast a little late.

"I was happy with my time at the halfway mark and was looking to run about 31.50, but it was hard running on my own and I couldn't lift the pace over the last couple of miles."

North-East 10K champion Louise Noble bounced back to winning way after losing her title at Raby Castle. The Sunderland Harrier clocked 37.57, beating Scunthorpe's Nicola Geddes by 48 seconds, with Middlesbrough and Cleveland's Carolyn Summerby a minute behind in third.
