FOOTBALL starlet Corey Denton has been rewarded for his outstanding ability this season by scooping three awards.
The talented football star of the future claimed players' player of the year, player of the year and top goalscorer in an eventful season for Bishop Auckland St Marys Juniors Under-8s.
But that is only the tip of the iceberg for the eight-year-old, who attends Sugarhill Primary School in Newton Aycliffe, as he has also been signed up on a three year contract at Sunderland's Academy of Light which starts in August.
Corey, who netted 40 goals for Bishops last season, turned down the attentions of other suitors, including Middlesbrough, to sign up with the Black Cats after being impressed following his year on the Sunderland Development Scheme.
The youngster, who supports Liverpool and names Steven Gerrard as his favourite player, admits he hopes to follow in his footsteps one day.
