FOUR people were arrested after a police pursuit involving a stolen car ended in a crash.

The incident took place in Stockton town centre in the early hours of this morning.

The car had been stolen during a burglary. It failed to stop for police and was badly damaged during a pursuit.

All four occupants were arrested on suspicion of burglary.

In a post on their Facebook page, Cleveland and Durham Roads Policing Unit said: "The registration was altered by using black electrical tape in an attempt to disguise the vehicle but the police were alerted by poor and erratic driving."
