A MAN who admitted supplying drugs raised no opposition to a court-approved confiscation of money seized from him by police, on his arrest.

John Paul Richardson, 35, is undergoing a drugs rehabilitation programme, supervised by the Probation Service, as part of a year-long community supervision order.

The sentence was imposed at Durham Crown Court, on March 23, after he admitted two charges of possessing drugs with intent to supply and three of supplying.

Following the hearing, the Crown Prosecution Service made an application under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

It related to more than £400 recovered from Richardson by police when officers raided his home, in Thames Crescent, Stanley, on October 13, as part of an investigation into alleged drugs supply.

Stephen Orange, prosecuting, told the court yesterday: "The amount of £469 cash was found in his house.

"He has indicated through his solicitors that he doesn't oppose the order.

"That money is in the possession of the police and Richardson has consented that it be forwarded to the courts."

Agreeing to the confiscation order, Judge Richard Lowden said: "This defendant has benefited from his general criminal activity."
