AN annual charity tractor run has raised £25,000 in five years for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Hundreds of spectators turned out to watch this year's Beadlam run, marking the fifth anniversary of the popular event, starting from Beadlam Grange Farm, near Helmsley.

More than 180 tractors took part over a 50-mile route, on and off road through 20 villages.

The £8,000 proceeds, making a total of £25,000 since 2002, were presented to air ambulance representative Bob Swales.

Framed photographs of the air ambulance were presented to organisers Bernard and Malcolm Simpson.

A television programme about the event is expected to be screened by the BBC this summer.
