STUDENTS from Bishop Auckland took part in a tasty challenge during a Choctastic Enterprise Week.

Year nine students from St John's RC Comprehensive School took part in a week-long project, in which they designed and marketed chocolate bars.

Students were put into groups of five and the best teams in each class competed against each other for a prize of a trip to Cadbury's World, in Bournville, Birmingham.

Andrew Reeve, head of enterprise at the school, said: "The students have really enjoyed the project.

"Its aim was to market their product using all academic subjects - for example, they could work out price statistics in maths and use their English lessons to advertise it.

"We are trying to push business and enterprise, so students understand how it works before they leave school."

Winners of the project were Fiona Airlie, 14, Harley Balmer-Howieson, 14, Alexandra Batty, 13, Charlotte Kerwick, 14 and Marnie Stephenson, 14, with their winning group, Ruffles Truffles.

Fiona said: "Our product was aimed at the luxury end of the chocolate market and we decided to donate some of our profits to the Dogs Trust charity."

She added: "We really enjoyed taking part in the project and are very pleased to have won."
