The third Amateur Kickboxing Association (AKA) event of the year will take place on Saturday 2 June 2007 at Darlington Cockerton Band and Music Institute, hosted by Bishop Auckland's Fire Cobra Thai Boxing Club and Darlington's Hanuman Club. Experienced fighters will be coming from across the UK, Italy and Holland to compete against local lads and ladies in what will be an exciting show of highly skilled Kick Boxing talent.

Top of the bill will be four fighters from the Fire Cobra Club.

Sam Bainbridge, the current European welterweight title holder, will challenge a formidable opponent, Lee Green, for the World welterweight title. Both belts will be on the line for what promises to be an action packed display of speed, strength and stamina in what is being billed as the main event of the evening.

Gerrit Van Dyke will defend his world heavy weight title, which he recently battled for in what can only be described as a clash of the titans. This defence will prove nothing less provided Gerrit's opponent can match his train stopping kicks and punches.

Darren Langthorn will challenge the current European middleweight title holder. Darren's last few bouts have been battles to the very end, hopefully he will continue battling through to win this one and return the belt from Turkey back to English soil.

Rob Newton, the current Intercontinental and European featherweight title holder will face a bout with an international challenger. Aged only seventeen, Rob has proved that he is a force to be reckoned with as he continues to defend his title from challengers across the world.

Other fighters competing from Fire Cobra are Paul Wood from Darlington, Ben Dale from Bishop Auckland, TJ Bowron from Willington, Susan Shand from Weardale and Nicola Bolton from Willington.

The event will start at 2pm with the novice bouts, followed by the senior bouts at around 7pm. Tickets cost £15 in advance, £18 on the door. To book your tickets contact Sam Bainbridge on 07747061094.
