A NEW club night promising to bring a celebrity feel to a County Durham town will be launched this month.

The promoters of Fire and Ice, centred around Bishop Auckland Market Place, claim that it will be an exclusive event unlike anything else seen in the town.

The Miami-themed night boasts fire-eaters, stilt walkers, DJs and cocktails and will be at the town's Queens Club on Saturday, June 30.

Rahul Devgan, who has owned the venue for the past year, has organised the event with Albert Samuels. He said that he hoped that the regular night would put the town on the map with the region's clubbers.

"It's going to be a monumental night," he said.

"We're trying to create a 'wow factor.' We have run similar nights in Nottingham with big success and we are bringing a similar theme to the North-East.

"In the past, people have thought why should they come to Bishop Auckland. This is the perfect reason to come here and we want people to come along and see what we are all about."

Renowned DJ duo Refined Sounds will be on the decks, with different styles of music in each of the three rooms.

Revellers will also have the chance to sample the aqua-marine vodka and fruit juice drink Hypnotiq, which glows in the dark, and Pama, which comes in distinctive red bottles.

Both are only available at a limited number of bars across the country and the contrasting colours are the inspiration for the Fire and Ice name.

Doors open at 9pm and admission is £5
