A DURHAM University chef has been given an environmental award for his work with local food suppliers.
John Turner, Durham University’s community executive chef was given the “caring for your environment” award by the County Durham Environment Partnership after setting up a cooperative hub to help his staff support local producers at an affordable price without increasing deliveries.
Tara Duncan, chair of the climate change group of the County Durham Environment Partnership, said: “John Turner is a great example of somebody who is enthusiastic and passionate about the environment and who applies this passion to his work."
