A SCHOOLsisterhood came together to raise hundreds of pounds for cancer research.
Female staff, students and friends of The King’s Academy, Coulby Newham, took part in their own Cancer Research UK Race for Life, completing three laps of the school field – or about 5km.
Year 8 dancers opened the event with a display followed by a warm-up before the ladies and girls, dressed in pink, headed off on their run, some in memory of relatives lost to the disease.
Event organiser and PE teacher Lyndsey Henry: “Students, as well as parents, carers, mums, aunties and friends, joined in and made it a really great atmosphere.
“Everyone enjoyed taking part and contributing.”
So far, £1,200 has been raised with more money still coming in.
