A NORTHALLERTON man living with Parkinson’s is gearing up to cycle 40 miles for Parkinson’s UK.
Ian Roberts, 56, is taking part in the one-day event Pedal for Parkinson’s – Harrogate, alongside his wife Alison and they will be setting off from the grounds of 700-year-old Ripley Castle on July 3.
Mr Roberts, who was diagnosed with the disease in 2012, said: “I am taking part to raise awareness and funds for Parkinson’s research and secondly as a personal challenge.
“I have always been an avid competitor in a range of sports including basketball, football, swimming and skiing as well as a keen fell walker.”
The event is one of many fundraising activities for the couple, as they hope to raise £9,000 to take part in a Grand Canyon Trek during 2017 for the charity.
