AN anti-Islam group and anti-fascist campaigners held rival protests in a North-East town centre.
As members of the Bishop Auckland Against Islam group and the North-East Infidels marched through Bishop Auckland on Saturday, the North-East Unite Against Fascism group held a counter-protest outside Bishop Auckland Town Hall.
There was a heavy police presence throughout the town centre on Saturday, June 11, and stall holders left the Market Place early as the protestors gathered.
The event passed without any incidents.
