SPANISH authorities are investigating the death of a law graduate who was found dead by his friends while on holiday in Majorca.

Joe Robinson, a former pupil of Manor School, York, is believed to have spent the night at bars in Magaluf before his body was discovered in an apartment in the resort on Thursday afternoon.

Friends of Mr Robinson, who worked as a doorman at Yates's bar in the city while funding his degree, attempted to revive him and called emergency services at around 12.55pm.

Paramedics tried to resuscitate the 25-year-old, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Spanish Civil Guard said the cause of Mr Robinson's death remained unknown, but a post-mortem examination was due to be carried out.

Paying tribute to Mr Robinson on Facebook, his ex-girlfriend, Lacey Marie Cranfield said: "Joe was a special man that touched the hearts of so many people and he will never be forgotten."

A Foreign Office spokeswoman said: "We are providing support to the family of a British man who died in Mallorca, Spain, on May 12."
